The ball is constructed in the "lemon peel" style, the standard of the day, and is approximately the same size as a modern ball but lighter and more dense in the hands, without the tightly wound solidity of twentieth and twenty-first century models. The Baby used a bronze, bushed, split-aluminum crankcase, a cast-iron cylinder bolted to the lower case, a three-ringed aluminum piston, a carburetor with a float, and side-port, piston-timed induction.
